First Flight
Jul. 30th, 2009 04:31 amI picked up a copy of Green Lantern: First Flight today. It's great seeing an animated Hal Jordan. It skips the whole origin story, mostly, as it shows Hal getting the ring from Abin Sur, but it then cuts to some time later when he's confident with the ring and such. The producers say they did that because the recent Justice League movie, New Frontier, covers that part. The movie focuses on Hal's proper induction into the corps and his first outing as a GL under Sinestro's guidance. They're after the yellow element and a weapon made from it. Sinestro is, of course, part of the plot to utilize the yellow element. After Hal is stripped of his ring due to phony charges, he figures out Sinestro's plot and confronts him. It eventually ends with Hal beating the shit out of Sinestro (Kilowog even adds insult to injury by crushing Sinestro's hand and yellow ring with his foot). Overall, it's an awesome story involving the greatest Green Lantern of all time. Fans should definitely pick it up. I'd love to see them handle Emerald Twilight.
I also picked up a Hiro Nakamura action figure, mostly because his scrunched up time travel/teleportation face was ugly as sin, and he was on clearance for $3.48 at Toys 'R' Us. Batman action figures were also obtained, as TRU had them on sale buy 1, get 2 free. Batman, Scarecrow, and one of the Joker's thugs were picked up. I'm heading back there Friday to see if I can find the Joker.
