Well, Monday, in my networking class, my group ended up doing nothing due to a lack of routers and switches. Today was the same. Just now, I got an e-mail saying that my client/server side programming class was canceled for tonight. So, I could've just stayed home today.

It was last night's episode. They performed Queen songs. The highlight was seeing Brian restrain himself when that Ace guy suggested changing it (We Will Rock You was written by Brian (and I suspect the fast version is the original, as it fits his style more than what it ended up as on the News of the World album)). The American Idol band (I suspect at Ace's request) fucked up the song. There was too much going on during it. I shouldn't be comparing them to the band, but every time they performed it live, it was reduced to drums and Freddie's voice for the most part. Ace's performance didn't have the same feel as Freddie strutting around on stage. Freddie's voice and stage presence combined with Roger's drums to give off alot of power. If it wasn't Queen up there, you'd think it was some sort of dictator up there with the sort of power the song put out. Ace's performance was just a bastardization of a good song. He didn't even strut around stage. Plus, all that extra guitar and stuff really robbed it of that feeling.

BTW, they said that Queen had never performed Innuendo live. While true in the technical sense, Brian, Roger, and John performed it (mixed with Kashmir) with Robert Plant at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert. It was just, well, bad. They cut it off the DVD...and did a good job of cutting it (I didn't know the DVD was cut at first).
