Tax free holiday on clothes and school supplies

TN's sales tax is 7%, with the various counties adding up to 2.75% on top of that, so here in Elizabethton, it's 9.25%. Tax free is nice. I've only purchased a shirt, a pair of pants, socks, underwear, and a pair of shoes so far. I might go see if they have any backpacks that can rival my current one tomorrow. I much prefer the larger backpacks so that I can carry my laptop in it without having to pay the exorbitant prices for a backpack specifically designed for carrying laptops.

Shoplifting

While I was out gathering carts today, someone attempted to shoplift from Food City. The guy had carried in bags from previous visits and filled them as he went around the store. One of the managers caught him doing it with the security cameras. Andy (assistant store manager) followed the guy into the parking lot. Initially, Andy walked towards me (I was like 20 feet from the shoplifter), so I thought I had done something wrong or that he was wanting me to do something. Anyway, seeing me and Andy out in the parking lot so close to the shoplifter scared him. He turned around and headed back into the store, left the cart there, and attempted to leave. Andy attempted to stop him and ended up having to chase him all the way down to the highway. The cops arrived not too much later and took the guy away.
