Past couple of weekends
Jun. 14th, 2009 03:04 amI've managed to have, like, 3 Saturdays in a row off, which has kicked much ass. The first one involved me running off to the cruise-in with my camera, which yielded that photo post a few weeks back. While enjoying the classic cars, I popped into TV Memories, a local store that has a ton of classic toys, bootlegged concerts, etc. Totally awesome place. I picked up 5 of the Galoob Star Trek: The Next Generation toys (Picard, Riker, Data, Geordia, Natasha Yar). All of them are still in the packaging, though Riker's packaging was almost totally open. After patching a few things with tape, they're all hanging on the wall next to my bed. I think this was also the weekend I picked up a glow in the dark Ghostbusters t-shirt and the first season of the cartoon on DVD.
The following Saturday, I did a flea market run. After thoroughly scouring my usual record outlet, I only walked away with the single for Pink Floyd's "Another Brick in the Wall (Part II)". I usually buy more than that, but he didn't seem to have much of the good stuff. Perhaps next time. After that disappointment, I hopped over to the JC and made a spur of the moment stop at Big Lots, where I scored "An Evening with Kevin Smith 2: Evening Harder" for $3. Next stop: Best Buy. I picked up Clerks, Clerks II, and Dogma, which nearly completes my collection of the View Askewniverse feature films. I only need Chasing Amy, which is also the only one of those I haven't seen.
This weekend has only yielded Family Guy Vol. 3 and that Led Zeppelin DVD released a few years back that I've yet to determine the actual name of. I've also finally purchased a new set of shelves to hold my DVD collection.
Somewhere in all that, I picked up the Playmates USS Enterprise NCC-1701 (ST09 version) toy and a model kit of the Enterprise from the original series. Two hours were spent on the model kit, and I kinda of want to rig up some LEDs in it so it lights up and is cooler than the Playmates toy. The local Toys 'R' Us apparently has some of the Diamond Select Star Trek toys now, which had me almost buying some of the 6 inch action figures. I stopped myself because I don't want another set of toys to try to complete.
My Trekkie passion seems to have been re-ignited by the new Star Trek movie.
